Exhibitions, Concerts, and Sports: Where to Go in Ashgabat This Weekend

The capital of Turkmenistan offers residents and visitors a diverse leisure program.This overview highlights several interesting events that can help make the coming days enjoyable.An exhibition of works by French photographer Paul Nadar has opened at the Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy Museum of Fine Arts.

The exhibition features 45 black-and-white photographs taken in 1890 and serves as a valuable visual archive.The images document a journey along the Trans-Caspian Railway, showcasing landscapes, the daily life and traditions of the Turkmen people, urban scenes, and architectural landmarks of that era.

It is a unique opportunity to explore the cultural heritage and historical context of Central Asia at the end of the nineteenth century.The exhibition will remain open until June 23.

On June 12 at 16:00, a classical music concert will be held in the Grand Hall of the Maya Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory.Graduates of the Department of Special Piano and Chamber Ensemble will perform, including soloists Bahar Durdyeva and Nury Nuryyev.

Admission is free.On June 13 at 17:00, the “Arkaç” Shopping and Entertainment Center will host the sporting event Basketfest.Guests will have the opportunity to watch professional Turkmen basketball players in action, try their hand at shooting hoops, and enjoy an active and entertaining experience.

Preparations are continuing for the National Culture Week, which this year will take place in the Balkan velayat from June 22 to June 27.As part of the celebrations, theater companies from across the country will present new performances and concerts dedicated to the Day of Culture and Arts Workers as well as to the poetry of Magtymguly Fragi.
