Journalist Soltan Achilova becomes a finalist of the 2021 Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders

The editorial board of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has just learned that our colleague and friend, an independent reporter Soltan Achilova, has been announced as a Finalist for the 2021 Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders.

Except Soltan Achilova, Loujain Al Hathloul from Saudi Arabia and Yu Wensheng from China have been selected as other Finalists of the Award.

The Martin Ennals Award, sometimes called “the Nobel Prize for human rights”, was set up in 1993 and is awarded every year.

Soltan Achilova is the first representative from Turkmenistan to be selected as the finalist of the Award.
