President of India Arrives in Turkmenistan on State Visit

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind arrived on Friday for a three-day state visit to the Turkmen capital Ashgabat, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

At the Ashgabat international airport, the Indian President was greeted by Turkmen officials the Vice-Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Minister of Education Gurbangul Atayeva.

Then the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov greeted the President of India in a solemn ceremony organized at the capital's airport.

The Turkmen-Indian summit meeting is scheduled for Saturday, which is expected to become a new important milestone in the history of bilateral relations.

Ram Nath Kovind’s visit is first-ever visit of Indian President to Turkmenistan.
