The 50th anniversary of mountaineering in Turkmenistan and the 30th anniversary of the “Agama” alpine club were celebrated in Ashgabat

Towards the end of last year, on December 15, a celebration was held in Ashgabat in honor of two events: the half-century anniversary of mountaineering in Turkmenistan and the 30th anniversary of the creation of the “Agama” mountaineering club. This is reported on the alpclub website.

The acting speaker addressed the audience. Chairman of the club Ruslan Baltayev, who introduced the history of “Agama”, spoke about the ascents of various peaks made by club members, including seven-thousand-meter peaks. He also spoke about eco-actions that are regularly carried out by club members.

Videos of ascents to such mountain peaks as Damavand, Airy Baba, Lenin Peak and Island Peak were shown, as well as a slide show with the “Agama’s” long-term photo archive.

Within the framework of the event, Ashgabat bards performed, performing famous songs that are often heard around the fire and brighten up the leisure time of mountain tourists.
