Turkmenistan and Qatar have agreed to complete preparations for the launch of the Qatar-Turkmen Joint Business Council, a new platform to strengthen trade and industrial ties between the two countries. The agreement was reached at the third meeting of the Turkmen-Qatar Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held November 2627, 2025, in Doha.
According to Qatar Tribune, the session was chaired by the commission heads Turkmenistan’s Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agahanov and Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs of Qatar Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed.
Al-Sayed said the council will serve as a key platform for developing economic and investment cooperation and invited Turkmen companies and investors to explore opportunities in Qatar’s growing market.
Agahanov highlighted energy, agriculture, textiles, and the chemical industry as sectors with significant cooperation potential. The agenda covered trade and industry, energy, customs, healthcare, science, environmental issues, culture, sports, labor relations, and air transport. Both sides agreed to continue working to advance cooperation in each area.
During the Turkmen delegation’s visit to Doha, Mergen Gurdov, chairman of Turkmenistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held a working meeting with Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari.
