The UK analytical company Cable has published world broadband speed ranking.
The data was collected across 12 months from May 2017 to May 2018. The broadband speed was measured with the help of special equipment connected to WI-FI routers for a long time. Mean values were calculated based on the speed test results.
In the ranking of 200 countries Turkmenistan ranks 197 with a mean broadband speed of 0,56 Mbps. Only the island state of Timor-Leste (0,49 Mbps) and Yemen (0,31 Mbps) are lagging behind with the worst performance.
It takes 20 hours and 22 minutes to download a 5Gb movie.
Singapore is at the top of the rating (60,39 Mbps) and Sweden (46 Mbps) ranks second. Denmark (43,99 Mbps) moved up from the fourth to the third place.
Interestingly enough, compared to the previous year Turkmenistan plummeted by 56 points whereas the average global broadband speed increased by 23%. However, it should be noted that the countries at the top of the list contribute to the most to the rising average whereas the situation at the bottom of the rating remains the same.
