Previously closed shops resume their operations in Ashgabat

Privately-owned stores and consumer services shops, which were closed down by the authorities in 2018 and 2019 under various excuses and their owners were forced to brick up the shop windows, are now re-opening in Ashgabat.

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that grocery stores, tailor shops, beauty parlours, events agencies, household appliances repair services have resumed their operations in residential districts of Khitrovka, Choganly and other neighbourhoods.

The shop owners assume that this became possible following the arrest of a notorious entrepreneur Chary Kulov and the former Interior Minister Isgender Mulikov who patronized him.

Retail outlets and consumer services shops are opening up not only in privately-owned houses but in the basements and the ground floors of multi-story residential houses. The inhabitants of Ashgabat, who now have retail stores within a walking distance, are very pleased.
