The President meets the CEO of France-based company designing TAPI project

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov met with the CEO of the French company CIFAL Gilles Remy.

The implementation of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-Indian gas pipeline was on the agenda. According to the state information agency TDH, Gilles Remy made a progress report on TAPI design project on the territory of Afghanistan and Pakistan, which is being carried out jointly with Germany’s ILF.

Gilles Remy voiced the intent to participate in the implementation of the TAPI project in June 2016.

Let us recall that various obstacles emerge as the TAPI project scheduled to be commissioned in 2019 is being implemented. One of the threats behind the construction works is the unstable political situation in Afghanistan.

Moreover, the Indian media outlets reported that the TAPI opening had been postponed for a year (until 2020) since the Turkmen side failed to find investors within the scheduled deadlines.

CIFAL is one of the major French companies operating in the field of foreign trade. The priority company’s areas are oil and gas sector as well as nuclear industry.
