Trade Turnover Between Udmurtia and Turkmenistan Increases

The volume of exports from the Udmurt Republic of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan has grown nearly 30 times, Udm-info news outlet reported on Wednesday citing the acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Udmurtia Konstantin Suntsov as saying during a working meeting with the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan (the Russian Federation) Atadurdy Bayramov.

According to the statement, the total volume of exports from the Russian region to Turkmenistan for 9 months of this year increased almost 30 times compared to last year and neared $1 million.

Turkmenistan is actively developing agriculture, which opens up opportunities to enter the market for Udmurt companies that produce equipment for the agro-industrial sector, Suntsov said during the meeting.

In turn, Bayramov noted that Udmurtia is of great interest to Turkmenistan. At the end of the meeting, the Turkmen Consul invited representatives of the Russian republic’s enterprises to a business meeting, which will be held in a virtual format.

Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia neared $694.8 million in 2019, which exceeds the figure for 2018 by 56.47%. Bilateral trade turnover is expected between the countries is expected to exceed $1 billion this year.
