Turkmenistan’s national weightlifting team won 12 medals at international competitions in Doha, where the 10th edition of the Qatar International Weightlifting Cup 2025, alongside the Arab Weightlifting Championship for seniors, youth and juniors, as well as the West Asian Weightlifting Championship for the same age categories are being held simultaneously, state media reported Thursday.
Bunyad Rashidov claimed two gold medals in the men’s 71-kilogram category, winning the snatch with a lift of 145 kilograms and taking gold in the total with 314 kilograms. He also earned silver in the clean and jerk with a lift of 169 kilograms.
Medine Amanova won three silver medals in the women’s 63-kilogram category, finishing with a total of 202 kilograms.Ogulshat Amanova claimed three bronze medals in the 53-kilogram category with a combined total of 170 kilograms.
Zybagul Soymushova competed in the 58-kilogram category and added a bronze medal in the snatch with a lift of 78 kilograms.
Gaygysyz Torayev competed in the men’s 79-kilogram category, winning silver in the clean and jerk with 190 kilograms and bronze in the total with 330 kilograms.
A total of 234 athletes from 28 countries are competing in the events. The tournament in Qatar’s capital runs through Dec. 27.
