Turkmenistan Celebrates National Spring Holiday — International Nowruz Day

Turkmenistan is widely celebrating the national spring holiday, International Nowruz Day. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended heartfelt congratulations to the Turkmen people on the occasion, official Turkmen media reported Saturday.

In his message, the president noted that Turkmen ancestors associated the abundance and well-being of the year with the arrival of Nowruz, accompanied by plentiful rains that awaken the land.

He said spring rains nourish the country’s fertile soil, vast pastures, and mountains, enriching them with the unique palette of the season, while red poppies and blossoming gardens enhance the beauty of Turkmen nature.

Berdimuhamedov added that in the neutral state, the festive atmosphere of International Nowruz Day is celebrated with the rhythm of horses’ hooves, songs and music performed by bakhshi musicians, folk dance performances by creative groups, and poetry, inspiring the Turkmen people toward new achievements.

Various celebratory events, exhibitions, and concerts are organized across the country in honor of the holiday.

Nowruz, inscribed on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, symbolizes the arrival of spring and the awakening of nature.
