After the New Year residents again queue for bread in front of state-run Ashgabat shops

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that Ashgabat is again experiencing a shortage of bread in state-run stores.

In the store owned by Ahalgallaönümleri, which is located in the residential district Parakhat-7, shop assistant report that less bread is being supplied in the meantime than ahead of the New Year holidays. In this connection people have been queuing up for bread since early in the morning over the past week.

A load of bread costs 0,5 manats whereas a flatbread is sold at 1 manat. At local bazaars the bread of the same quality costs 3 to 5 manats. Customers with moderate means who have large families complain that this hits hard in their pockets
