Following the start of the heating season pipes in many Ashgabat apartment blocks crack

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that despite the fact that the weather in early November in Ashgabat was quite cold (at night the temperature dropped down to +2), the heating supply was switched on in many residential districts of the city only on 10 November, 2019.

The repair and maintenance works of the heat supply system, which were scheduled to be carried out in the summer, have recently been completely in the residential district Parakhat 7/1.

On 15 November water supply pipes cracked and leaked in the basement of the apartment block №19 and the heating was switched off again. The basement was flooded with hot water so severely that the apartments on the first floor were full of steam. A similar situation occurred in apartment blocks № 10, 15, 20, 21.

According to one of the inhabitants, many residential buildings in this district were commissioned in 2012.The construction workers installed used heating pipes and radiators from the previously demolished houses.

Due to wear and tear pipes leak and crack on a regular basis.Basements of almost all apartment blocks are full of water and the apartments are damp.

The administration of the holding “Ashgabat heating systems” under the Ministry of Public Utilities, which is in charge of the heating networks, is trying to make the residents cover the expenditures associated with the purchase of new pipes.

— Even if there are no cracks, employees of boiler houses refrain from switching on hot water. We have no opportunity to have a shower or wash the dishes.

If you contact the boiler house and pay a fee of 10 manats to staff, hot water supply will be temporarily resumed, a resident of one of the apartment buildings said.
