Officials from the Ministry of Education clamp down on smoking students in Ashgabat schools

Officials from the Ministry of Education are conducting unscheduled inspections in Ashgabat schools to identify senior graders smoking in toilets, inter alia.

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that the employees of Turkmenistan’s Education Ministry burst into the toilets during breaks with raids against smoking students. Their parents are subsequently summoned to school and are urged to sign written obligations to control the conduct of their children.

According to a female resident of the residential district of Parakhat-4, the inspection was carried out in the secondary school №60 located in the above-mentioned district. Several male and female students smoking during class breaks were detained there by the officials.

Senior graders spend their pocket money allocated by parents for meals in a school cafeteria to purchase cigarettes by piece.
