Turkmen-Uzbek Trade Center to Open During Turkmen President’s Uzbekistan Visit

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a Cabinet of Ministers meeting via digital system, addressing a range of national issues.

Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on preparations for the President’s participation in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State and his upcoming state visit to Uzbekistan.

Developing bilateral and multilateral relations with neighboring countries remains a key priority of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, with particular focus on long-term cooperation across Central Asia.

The agenda of the upcoming consultative meeting in Tashkent is expected to cover a broad range of intergovernmental partnership issues, including strengthening regional cooperation and exchanging views on pressing regional and international matters. A series of supplementary events is also planned to enhance regional collaboration.

Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were established in February 1993. Since then, both countries have developed a productive partnership in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, supported by a solid legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

As part of the visit program, the opening of a new Turkmen-Uzbek border trade center is scheduled, alongside high-level talks and other official events.

President Berdimuhamedov noted that the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State would play a crucial role in strengthening multilateral cooperation and expanding friendly and fraternal ties.

He emphasized that Uzbekistan is one of Turkmenistan’s closest neighbors and that cooperation between the two countries continues to grow steadily.The President instructed the Deputy Chairman and Foreign Minister to ensure thorough preparation for the consultative meeting and the state visit to Uzbekistan.
